Scott McQueen

BIO

Scott was the fourth of six children born to Danny & Doris McQueen who lived on the Land, hunting, trapping, & traveling by dog team.  He is one of the last of his generation to have lived and learned from a traditional Dene life.  Scott’s stories are awesome gifts left to him by his parents.  Since their deaths in 1997 and 2002 respectively, Scott believes that his calling is to keep their stories alive by sharing them to larger audiences than his bush cabin by the lake.

His legendary father, Danny McQueen, still holds the title for winning five consecutive dog sledding races from 1963 to 1967 in the Canadian Championship Dog Derby held in March during Yellowknife’s Caribou Carnival.  And his strong mother, Doris McQueen, was featured on the CBC’s Millennium Program on Year 2000’s new year’s television show watched by approximately two billion viewers world wide.
